Iran's Energy Minister Reza Ardekanian hopes that Iran's accession into the Eurasian Economic Union would improve the country's economy.
"There would be considerable improvement in employment and market expansion for Iranian companies in the Eurasian countries that are members of the EEU," he said on the sidelines of an official meeting in Russia's Sochi, Trend reports citing ILNA.
"The two countries have agreed to hold the next joint economic summit in Tehran, in mid-June," he added.
Iranian President Hassan Rouhani held a joint meeting with his Russian counterpart during his visit to Sochi where they joined Turkish President Recep Tayyip Erdogan later in a trilateral summit to discuss the Syrian issue.
The Eurasian Economic Union, also known as the Eurasian Union, is a political and economic union of states located in central and northern Eurasia. Its current members include Russia, Belarus, Kazakhstan, Armenia and Kyrgyzstan.
The Eurasian Economic Union has an integrated single market of 183 million people and a gross domestic product of over $4 trillion.
Ardekanian noted as the head of joint economic cooperation commission, he and his Russian counterpart Alexander Novak will present their reports on the progressed activities in this sector to their presidents.
