Uzavtosanoat and Volkswagen have agreed on car models to be manufactured in Uzbekistan, Trend reports with reference to Uzbek media.
Volkswagen plans to manufacture the four following models: Volkswagen Caddy, Volkwagen Crafter, Volkswagen Tiguan and Skoda Octavia. The plant for their production will be built in Samarkand.
Volkswagen and Uzavtosanoat conducted active negotiations on the matter in the past five months. The project can be implemented before the end of this year.
Uzavtosanoat is the Uzbek holding company controlling automotive manufacturing enterprises of the large-unit assembly (SKD), GM Uzbekistan (now UzAuto Motors), Samarkand Automobile Plant and MAN Auto-Uzbekistan.
Volkswagen AG is a German concern headquartered in Wolfsburg, Germany. Volkswagen Auto Museum is also located there.
