Some 250 tons of granulated sulfur have been shipped from Prorva group of fields in Kazakhstan, which are being developed by Embamunaigas JSC, Trend reports with reference to the press office of National Company KazMunayGas.
Ever since the installation of associated oil gas (AOG) treatment unit in December 2018, some 350 tons of sulfur have been produced by the company. To the date, this is the largest unit installed in the company, the annual capacity of which is 150 million cubic meters.
The unit provides for cleansing of associated oil gas from hydrogen sulphide and thus allows for manufacturing of tank gas, tank granulated sulfur, stable gas condensate.
Furthermore, according to the requirement of Kazakhstan’s ecology legislation, the entirety of associated oil gas produced as a result of oil extraction is to be recycled.
The unit allows to significantly reduce the forced burning of associated oil gas on the flares of the Prorva group of fields. The technology of gas treatment applied on the unit, is environmentally safe and provides high efficiency of desulphurization. The whole process of gas treatment is fully automated and provides several levels of protection against emergency situations.
The volume of processing on the unit in 2018 amounted to some 147 million cubic meters of gas, some 98 million cubic meters of which were sold and another 34 million cubic meter were used by the company itself. Over 4,000 tons of gas condensate were produced.
Similar facilities for treatment of associated oil gas also operate on the company's fields such as the East Makat and the S. Balgimbayev field, supplying natural gas to the population of three districts of Atyrau region.
National Company KazMunayGas is Kazakhstan's national operator for exploration, production, refining and transportation of hydrocarbons, representing the state in Kazakhstan's petroleum sector.
Embamunaygas JSC is a subsidiary of KazMunayGas Exploration Production JSC. The main activities of the company: geological exploration, development of oil and gas fields; oil and gas production; oil and gas treatment. Embamunaygas JSC consists of six production divisions in Atyrau and four ones in Atyrau region: Zhayikmunaygas, DossorMunayGas, Kainarmunaygas, Zhylyoimunaygas, Embamunaygas Management and Management of the production maintenance and equipment procurement.
