Uzbekistan’s Minister of Investments and Foreign Trade Sardor Umurzakov and World Bank's Vice President Cyril Muller discussed in Washington the possibilities of the World Bank’s involvement in developing a concept for reforming the aviation sector of Uzbekistan, Trend reports citing the press service of the Uzbekistan’s Ministry of Investment and Foreign Trade.
The WB was also proposed to participate in improving the management of public investment and conducting diagnostics of investment attractiveness of Uzbekistan.
During the meeting, the parties discussed dynamically developing cooperation with the World Bank group in various areas of socio-economic development of Uzbekistan, bearing in mind the implementation of already launched programs, the processes of transition to new stages in their implementation, and also considered the possibility of expanding the spectrum of interaction and developing new projects.
Uzbek side highly appreciated the World Bank’s assistance in the implementation of the state program for improving living conditions in rural areas (“Well-maintained villages”), as well as consultative participation of group experts in a tender for the construction of a photovoltaic station, which is the first transaction in the country's history to attract foreign investment in public-private partnerships in this field.
Following the meeting, agreements were reached on the formation of a new cooperation program aimed at ensuring a decent standard of living for the population by improving road, water, energy and social infrastructure, as well as creating a favorable climate for attracting private and direct investment.
