President of Uzbekistan Shavkat Mirziyoyev signed a decree "On accelerated measures to improve energy efficiency in economic and social sectors, introduce energy-saving technologies and develop renewable energy sources," Trend reports citing the government portal of Uzbekistan.
In particular, it provides for the increase of the share of renewable energy sources (RES) to more than 25 percent of the total electricity generation by 2030.
According to the document, manufacturers of renewable energy installations will be exempted from paying all types of taxes for five years. Within 10 years from the moment they are put into operation, it will not be necessary to pay property tax for installations of renewable energy sources and land tax for land plots occupied by these plants.
Persons who will use renewable energy sources in residential premises are also exempted from paying land tax for a period of three years, provided that they completely cut off existing energy networks.
From January 1, 2020, compensations will be financed from the state budget of Uzbekistan, encouraging the population and entrepreneurs to use renewable energy sources.
Thus, individuals will be provided with compensation in the amount of 30 percent of the costs of purchasing solar photovoltaic stations (no more than 3 million soums), solar water heaters (no more than 1.5 million soums), and energy-efficient gas burner devices (no more than 200,000 soums).
