Iran's crude oil exports from Goureh oil terminal in the Bushehr province (southern Iran) to the Jask station on the shores of the Gulf of Oman will accelerate with the commissioning of a pipeline to transport crude oil, the Iranian expert on energy issues Milad Ahmadi told Mizan news agency, Trend reports.
According to Ahmadi, thus, there will be no need for Iran to use the Strait of Hormuz for crude oil exports.
Ahmadi added that with the onset of the first sanctions (2006), the relevant authorities in Iran began to focus on local potential and this has led to the emergence of many equipment manufacturers under sanctions.
The expert said that the Goureh-Jask pipeline is also a successful example of trust in local experts. The pipeline will be laid by Iranian specialists and local equipment.
Ahmadi said that high-pressure pumps, taps and other equipment imported from other countries with great difficulty are produced by local manufacturers.
The construction of the 1,000-kilometer Goureh-Jask oil pipeline project worth more than $1.8 billion has been outsourced to local manufacturers and contractors. It is planned to transport 1 million barrels of crude oil per day via the pipeline. According to the program, the pipeline will be commissioned next year (begins March 21, 2021).
It is also planned to build 30 million-barrel oil storage facility on 460 hectares at the Iranian Jask oil terminal. As part of this program, a storage facility for 10 million barrels of oil is being built.
