Iran comes on line with oil wells in joint fields with Iraq

BAKU, Azerbaijan, August 8. Four oil wells were commissioned at Iran's joint oil field South Azadegan (known as Majnoon in Iraq) last month, Trend reports via the Iranian Petropars company.

The company pointed out that, these South Azadegan wells produced 6,900 barrels of oil every month, thanks to Petropars specialists.

Besides, the company said that with the start of production from these four wells, the daily production potential from the 19 wells operated by Petropars at the above field has increased by 23,400 barrels.

Previously, crude oil production from the South Azadegan field was 170,000 barrels per day.

The South Azadegan field contains 28.2 billion barrels of oil, with recoverable reserves estimated at 1.6 billion barrels. According to the development plans for the field, the first phase aims to achieve a daily production of 320,000 barrels of crude oil and 197 million cubic feet (about seven million cubic meters) of natural gas, while the second phase targets a daily production of 280,000 barrels of crude oil.
