Azerbaijani production association Teleradio will start the reconstruction of the Baku-Guba radio relay line in 2019, a source in the country's broadcasting market told Trend.
Presently, tenders are being held to purchase various types of equipment and transmitters.
"All the necessary equipment will be purchased by end 2018," the source said.
Work will be carried out to create a backup digital TV network in the Guba district of Azerbaijan, which will ensure uninterrupted broadcasting in case of unforeseen circumstances.
Work on the creation of a backup digital network has been ongoing since 2011. This involves digitizing transmitters that were previously used for analog broadcasts.
Currently, the backup digital network runs from Baku in the southern and western directions.
