ASTANA, Kazakhstan, September 4. The Caspi Bitum Aktau bitumen plant plans to increase its processing capacity to 1.5 million tons of oil per year by the end of 2024, Trend reports.
This will increase the production of road bitumen at the enterprise up to 750,000 tons per year.
At the moment, the Nanjing Petrochemical Design Institute (NJPEC) is completing a technical audit, a detailed work schedule has been formed, and upgrade options have been provided.
In addition, in agreement with the Chinese, a contracting organization and a financing scheme for the project have been preliminarily determined.
The project will be carried out strictly within the stated time frame, and its completion is expected at the end of 2024.
Caspi Bitum also signed a contract for the development of a project for the expansion of the tank farm for storing bitumen (liquid) from 9,000 to 29,000 cubic meters.
In addition, in order to increase the basket of manufactured products, the possibility of producing jet fuel (including the Jet A-1 brand) with a capacity of 75,000 tons per year is being explored.
In the structure of KazMunayGas, two enterprises are engaged in the production of bitumen: the Aktau Bitumen Plant and the Pavlodar Petrochemical Plant. Caspi Bitum for the production of road bitumen was put into operation in 2013 with an annual oil refining capacity of one million tons.
