ASTANA, Kazakhstan, November 20. Kazakhstan's transport sector handled 954.9 million tons of cargo from January through October 2025, which is an 8.1 percent increase compared to the same period in 2024, Trend reports via the country's Bureau of National Statistics.
Freight turnover reached 472.1 billion ton-kilometers, reflecting a year-on-year growth of 11.7 percent.
The capital, Astana, experienced a 16.7 percent increase, while the Atyrau region registered a notable rise of 47 percent. Other regions reporting significant gains included Zhetisu (43.9 percent), Abai (31.5 percent), Mangystau (27.8 percent), Turkestan (24.9 percent), and Pavlodar (12.1 percent).
More moderate growth was observed in Aktobe (9.5 percent), Kostanay (8.6 percent), and Almaty (7.9 percent) regions, with Western Kazakhstan (7.5 percent), Karaganda (6.1 percent), Kyzylorda (5.1 percent), North Kazakhstan (1.4 percent), and Ulytau (1 percent) recording comparatively smaller increases.
Kazakhstan's transport sector carried 1.078 billion tons of cargo in 2024, which is 10 percent more than in 2023.
