BISHKEK, Kyrgyzstan, June 21. Kyrgyzstan saw 53.7 million payments made via QR codes from January through March 2025, which is a 13.7-times increase compared to the same period in 2024, Trend reports.
Per the data disseminated by the National Bank of Kyrgyzstan,
the aggregate valuation of these transactions ascended to 94
billion soms (equivalent to $1 billion), reflecting a remarkable
24.1-fold escalation on a year-over-year basis.
Among these disbursements, 5.8 million pertained to governmental
services, aggregating to a total of 2.6 billion soms (equivalent to
$29.7 million). This indicates a remarkable escalation of 284-fold
in transaction volume and a 45.5-fold increase in aggregate value
relative to Q1 2024.
By the conclusion of Q1 2025, a total of 20 out of 21 financial
institutions and 12 payment entities delivered cross-platform
integration solutions to streamline payment processing and transfer
mechanisms utilizing QR code technology. In the context of this
strategic integration, financial institutions and payment
facilitators deployed a total of 67,600 QR codes across various
retail and service sectors, encompassing both urban and regional
locales throughout Kyrgyzstan.
