TASHKENT, Uzbekistan, March 17. The Islamic Development Bank (IsDB) Board approved $92.9 million for Uzbekistan’s health sector, which will contribute to enhancing healthcare services in the Kashkadarya region, Trend reports.
The news follows the 359th meeting of the IsDB Board meeting under the chairmanship of Muhammad Al Jasser.
Meanwhile, $10 million in additional financing was approved for the Support to Development of Oncology Services Project in Uzbekistan (Phase-II) initiative.
The Board approved over $1.4 billion to significantly advance Sustainable Development Goals (SDGs) in eight member countries during the meeting.
Earlier, Uzbekistan and the IsDB signed a new agreement to advance the country’s education sector, focusing on accessibility and quality.
Uzbekistan will build 58 new inclusive schools with modern equipment and 2,431 additional classrooms to accommodate the growing number of students under the agreement. The project also includes curriculum reforms, teacher training programs, and improved student assessment systems to improve learning outcomes.
