BAKU, Azerbaijan, August 21. A total of 1.93 trillion rials (about $4.7 million) was spent on agricultural facilities in Khuzestan province, located in southwestern Iran, from August 23 through 30, director general of the Agriculture Department of Iran's Khuzestan Province Majid Nabipour told reporters, Trend reports.

According to Nabipour, 24 facilities will be put into operation in Khuzestan province during the mentioned period. These facilities are related to horticulture, greenhouse farming, animal husbandry, veterinary, fisheries and so on.

Nabipour noted that the facilities will be commissioned in 14 districts of Khuzistan province. With the commissioning of these facilities, 3,305 people will be employed.

Furthermore, it should be noted that 17.8 million tons of agricultural products are grown annually in Iran's Khuzestan Province. This is 20 percent of Iran's agricultural production.

On average, more than 130 million tons of agricultural products are grown in Iran per year.

The total area of agricultural land in Iran is more than 12 million ha.
