Iran's major mining companies propelling their iron ore pellet output

BAKU, Azerbaijan, March 5. The production of iron ore pellets by nine of Iran's major mining companies during the 10 months of the current Iranian year (from March 20, 2024, through January 19, 2025) has increased by 7 percent compared to the same period last year (from March 21, 2023, through January 20, 2024).

Data obtained by Trend from the Iranian Mines and Mining Industries Development and Renovation Organization (IMIDRO) shows that these companies have produced nearly 35 million tons of iron ore pellets during this period, compared to 32.8 million tons in the same period last year.

Notable production figures include Gol-Gohar Company with 10.6 million tons, Gohar-Zamin Company with 5.1 million tons, Sangan Steel Mining Industries Company with 4.4 million tons, and the Middle East Mines Industries Development Holding Company (MIDHCO) with 3.39 million tons of iron ore.

Other significant contributions come from Opal Parsian Sangan Company with 3.3 million tons, Central Iron Ore Company with 3.06 million tons, Chadormalu Mining and Industrial Company with 3.06 million tons, and Sanabad Inclusive Development Industrial and Mining Company with 1.4 million tons of iron ore pellets.

In the same ten months, the large mining companies produced approximately 41.2 million tons of iron ore concentrate, showing a slight decrease of 0.5 percent compared to the same period last year.

It is noteworthy that Iran's annual output of iron ore pellets hovers around the 50 million-ton mark.

Nonetheless, Iran possesses the capacity to generate an annual output of approximately 100 million tons of iron ore concentrate.
