BAKU, Azerbaijan, April 21. Iran's Petropars Company (PPC) has increased gas production from Phase 11 of the South Pars gas field, a joint field shared with Qatar (known there as the North Dome), said the company CEO Hamidreza Saghafi, Trend reports.

Speaking to local media, Saghafi said that over the past six months, daily gas output from Phase 11 has grown by 200 million cubic feet (approximately 5.66 million cubic meters). This increase was made possible through the drilling and upgrading of two new wells in the phase.

The official said that in the early days of the current year (from March 21, 2025, through March 20, 2026), successful operations were carried out in Phase 11. The successful implementation of this project has contributed to the country’s long-term energy security.

Previously, production from Phase 11 was limited to 15 million cubic meters per day from six wells.

South Pars gas field (North Dome in Qatar) is a joint gas field of Iran and Qatar. It is reported that the gas reserves in this field are 51 trillion cubic meters, of which 36 trillion cubic meters can be produced. Iran's share in this field is 14 trillion cubic meters of gas and 18 billion barrels of gas condensate.

Due to US sanctions on Iran, France’s Total and China’s CNPCI withdrew from activities in Phase Eleven. As a result, full responsibility for operations in Phase 11 was handed over to Iran’s Petropars Company.
