An Iranian official in charge of developing the 19th phase of the South Pars Gas field has voiced the country's plans for increasing the output of phase 19 by the end of winter.
The output of the South Pars Gas field's 19th phase will reach 28.5 million cubic meters per day by the end of 2016, Hamid Reza Masoudi told SHANA news agency.
The production capacity of phase 19 currently stands at 50 million cubic meters per day.
Over the last fiscal year (ended March 20) the total output of the South Pars Gas field reached 130 billion. The output of the south pars gas files is projected to hit 260 billion barrels per day by 2019.
South Pars, located in southern region, is divided into 24 development phases (28 standard phases).
It covers an area of 9,700 square kilometers, 3,700 square kilometers of which are in Iran's territorial waters in the Persian Gulf. The remaining 6,000 square kilometers are situated in Qatar's territorial waters.
The Islamic Republic is producing over 420 million cubic meters per day (mcm/d) of gas from South Pars, while the production level is projected to surpass 700 mcm/d by late 2018.
