BAKU, Azerbaijan, September 8. The New Shusha Mosque is on the rise, poised to become a shining beacon of the city with its jaw-dropping architecture, Trend reports.
The mosque’s foundation was laid in 2021 by President Ilham
Aliyev. Its design integrates emblematic components: the primary
edifice embodies the numeral eight, honoring Shusha’s emancipation
on Victory Day, whereas its dual minarets signify the 11th month,
representing the duration of the city’s occupation. The vertical
extensions of the minarets are projected to attain an elevation of
72 meters.
Shusha is celebrated for its rich tapestry of historic mosques and
architectural heritage, with the New Shusha Mosque set to integrate
into this esteemed lineage. The initiative is underpinned by the
strategic backing of the Heydar Aliyev Foundation and Pasha
Holding.
