BAKU, Azerbaijan, November 23. The number of employees in Azerbaijan decreased by 8,100 people (0.47 percent) as of October 1, 2023, compared to the same period in 2022, Trend reports.
According to figures from Azerbaijan's State Statistics Committee, this total amounted to 1.7 million persons, with 890,900 working in the public sector and 828,900 working in the private sector. From the total number of working individuals, 18.9 percent work in education, 18.6 percent in trade and repair of automobiles, and 8.4 percent in health and social services.
In addition, 6.5 percent are employed in public administration, defense, and social security, 4.3 percent in transport and warehousing, 3.7 percent in science and technology, and 2.1 percent in the financial and insurance sectors.

According to preliminary data, the average monthly nominal income of employees in Azerbaijan climbed by 11.2 percent from January to September 2023, reaching 919.8 manat ($541) from the same period the previous year.
The average monthly nominal pay was greater in the mining industry, financial and insurance operations, information and communications, and scientific and technical activities.
