BAKU, Azerbaijan, January 17. The number of hired employees in Azerbaijan increased by 100 people, or 0.01 percent, as of December 1, 2023, compared to the same period in 2022, Trend reports.
According to the State Statistics Committee of Azerbaijan, the total number of hired workers for the first of December 2023 amounted to 1.732 million people, including 899,800 in the public sector of the economy and 832,800 in the private sector. Among the total number of employed citizens, 19.2 percent work in education, 18.5 percent in trade and vehicle repair, and 8.4 percent in health care and social services.

To note, preliminary data indicates that the average monthly nominal wage of salaried employees in Azerbaijan in January-November 2023 increased by 11.2 percent compared to the same period of 2022 and amounted to 923.1 manat.
The average monthly nominal wage was higher in the mining industry, financial and insurance activities, information and communication, and scientific and technical activities.
