BAKU, Azerbaijan, October 29. The average yield of winter wheat from fields through strip-till technology in Azerbaijan was 58 centners per hectare, allowing the country to produce an average of 25-26 quintals of additional food wheat per hectare, a source in the Center for Agricultural Innovation of the Ministry of Agriculture told Trend.

According to the source, this technology has taken the world by storm, finding its way into the hands of farmers in the US, Canada, the UK, Germany, France, and a host of other European nations.

"This technology utilizes Polish-made Mzuri equipment, which combines and performs multiple operations simultaneously in one pass. This technology was applied in wheat sowing and resowing of corn in the western region of the country.

With the use of this new technology, all operations, from soil preparation to sowing, were completed in a single pass, allowing for significant resource savings," the source said.

Moreover, as the source explained, the implementation of strip-till technology enables a 50 percent reduction in diesel fuel consumption and decreases carbon dioxide emissions into the atmosphere by up to 80 percent.

The source additionally emphasized that this technology allows for keeping two-thirds of the soil undisturbed, reducing the fertilizer rate per hectare by up to 50 percent, preventing soil contamination by chemicals, and increasing crop yields.
