ASTANA, Kazakhstan, December 28. Currently, Kazakhstan has already repaired 2,800 out of the 11,000 kilometers of railways scheduled for repair by 2029, announces Kazakhstan Railways, Trend reports.
In 2024, Kazakhstan Temir Zholy (Kazakhstan Railways) completed its track repair plan—1407 kilometers of railway track were renovated using all types of repairs, with 570 kilometers of that being capital repairs.
"Annual track repairs ensure the reliability of the railway infrastructure and increase speeds in passenger and freight transport. The modernization of the railway infrastructure will meet the growing transportation needs and contribute to increasing the country's transit potential," said Kazakhstan Temir Zholy.
To note, the total quantum of repair operations executed in the year 2023 reached 1443 kilometers, indicating a decrement of 36 kilometers or a reduction of 2.5 percent compared to the preceding year.
