BAKU, Azerbaijan, January 22. The state border service revealed that 2,626,700 foreigners and stateless individuals from 196 countries made their way to Azerbaijan in 2024, marking a 25.9 percent increase compared to the previous year, Trend reports.

According to the information, 27.8 percent of the arrivals were citizens of the Russian Federation, 16.2 percent from Türkiye, 9.3 percent from India, 8 percent from Iran, 4.2 percent from Georgia, 3.7 percent from Saudi Arabia, 3.3 percent from Kazakhstan, 3.1 percent from Pakistan, 1.8 percent from the UAE and Uzbekistan, 1.7 percent from China, 1.4 percent from Ukraine, 1.3 percent from Turkmenistan, 1.2 percent from Kuwait, 1.1 percent from Israel, 1 percent each from Belarus and the UK, and 12.1 percent from other countries.

Moreover, it was noted that 67.3 percent of the arrivals were men and 32.7 percent were women.

Compared to 2023, the number of arrivals from India increased 2.1 times, Spain - 2 times, South Korea - 1.9 times, China - 1.9 times, Kyrgyzstan - 49.6 percent, Kazakhstan - 48.6 percent, Pakistan - 46.7 percent, Philippines - 44.3 percent, Oman - 41.6 percent, Jordan - 39.7 percent, Poland - 37 percent, USA - 35.1 percent, Italy - 35.1 percent, Germany - 27, 4 percent, Iran - 27.2 percent, Netherlands - 27.1 percent, Turkmenistan - 27 percent, Tajikistan - 21.7 percent, Saudi Arabia - 21.6 percent, Yemen - 21 percent, France - 20 percent, UK - 19.2 percent, Egypt - 17.2 percent, Russian Federation - 17 percent, Uzbekistan - 17 percent, Ukraine - 15.6 percent, Türkiye - 12.7 percent, Moldova - 11.8 percent.

The number of arrivals from the EU member states increased by 34.9 percent to 112,300, from the Persian Gulf countries by 21.4 percent to 425,000, and from the CIS countries by 18.8 percent to 979,000 compared to 2023.

As many as 75.6 percent of foreigners and stateless persons arrived by air, 23.1 percent by rail and road, and 1.3 percent by sea.

The total number of citizens of the Republic of Azerbaijan traveling abroad increased by 15.5 percent to 2,158,900 compared to 2023. The number of citizens of the Republic of Azerbaijan traveling to Iran increased by 32 percent, to the Russian Federation by 11.6 percent, to Georgia by 11.5 percent, and to Türkiye by 8.5 percent.

As many as 41 percent of citizens of the Republic of Azerbaijan visited Türkiye, 20.7 percent visited the Russian Federation, 8.7 percent visited Georgia, 8.7 percent visited Iran, and 20.9 percent visited other countries. Of these, 63.8 percent were men and 36.2 percent were women.

A total of 69.4 percent of Azerbaijani citizens visiting foreign countries in 2024 used air transport, 28.5 percent used rail and road transport, and 2.1 percent used sea transport.
