BAKU, Azerbaijan, February 28. Enilive’s Q4 2024 performance showed a decline in bio throughputs and wholesale sales but an increase in retail sales, highlighting a shifting landscape in the fuel market, Trend reports.
According to the producer, bio throughputs in Q4 fell by 38% year-over-year to 163 kilotons, primarily due to planned maintenance shutdowns at the Gela biorefinery for the start-up of bio-jet production. However, for the full year, bio throughputs increased by 29% to 1,115 kilotons, benefiting from the contribution of the Chalmette refinery.
Retail fuel sales performed positively in Q4, rising by 5% year-over-year to 1.95 million tons, driven by higher gasoline and HVO sales in Italy and increased volumes in Germany, Spain, and France. Full-year retail sales grew by 2% to 7.69 million tons, supported by higher gasoline and HVO demand, though partly offset by lower gasoil sales in Italy.
Wholesale sales in Q4 declined sharply by 24% year-over-year to 2.37 million tons, mainly due to lower gasoil volumes, though higher jet fuel sales helped limit the drop. Despite this Q4 decline, full-year wholesale sales rose slightly by 2% to 12.77 million tons, indicating resilience in overall market demand.
Enilive’s retail market share in Italy stood at 21.6% in Q4, slightly lower than the 21.7% recorded in Q4 2023.
