ASTANA, Kazakhstan, March 6. In the capital of Kazakhstan, a meeting was held between Almassadam Satkaliyev, Minister of Energy of the Republic of Kazakhstan, and Nicolas Rallo, Director of ICAO’s European and North Atlantic Office, Trend reports.

The parties discussed issues related to the "green" transformation in Kazakhstan, with a special focus on the development of sustainable aviation fuel (SAF) production.

The Kazakh side emphasized its commitment to the development of renewable energy sources and the implementation of environmentally sustainable projects, creating favorable conditions for investors.

In the course of the meeting, it was mentioned that KazMunayGas is considering the possibility of launching SAF production. The ICF's recommendations for constructing a bioethanol-to-SAF conversion plant and plans to expand bioethanol production at the Bio Operations plant were mentioned.

“Kazakhstan is demonstrating readiness to build a sustainable aviation fuel production plant and is actively working on creating conditions for the development of clean energy. We are convinced that the energy transition is impossible without the active involvement of all stakeholders. Kazakhstan is ready for cooperation at all levels,” stated the minister.

The meeting highlighted the importance of international cooperation in sustainable development and Kazakhstan's desire to take a leading position in the region in the field of "green" energy.

SAF (Sustainable Aviation Fuel) is an alternative to traditional aviation fuel based on hydrocarbons. It is produced from renewable sources, such as plant oils, agricultural waste, or bioethanol, and its use helps significantly reduce carbon dioxide and other harmful emissions into the atmosphere.
