BAKU, Azerbaijan, March 7. The volume of cargo turnover through pipelines in Azerbaijan was 5.2 billion ton-km in January of this year.
Data obtained by Trend from the country's State Statistics Committee shows that this indicator is 390.8 million ton-km or 6.9 percent less than in the same month of last year.
At the same time, the volume of cargo transportation by pipelines during the reporting period amounted to 5.8 million tons, which is 281,900 tons or 4.6 percent less than in January 2024.
Freight and passenger transportation increased by 5.5 percent and 7.9 percent, respectively, during January of this year in Azerbaijan compared to January 2024.
Economic entities operating in the transport sector dispatched 18.4 million tons of cargo.
Meanwhile, 4.5 percent of cargo was transported by sea, 8.2 percent by rail, 0.2 percent by air, and 55.7 percent by road.
