Iran's Hormozgan Province ports crank up cargo traffic

BAKU, Azerbaijan, March 10. The volume of cargo loaded and unloaded at ports of Hormozgan Province, located in southern Iran, grew by 3.6 percent during 11 months of the current Iranian year (from March 20, 2024 through February 18, 2025) compared to the same period last year (from March 21, 2023 through February 19, 2024), Director General of Iran's Ports and Maritime Administration of Hormozgan Province Hossein Abbasnejad told reporters, Trend reports.

He noted that 104 million tons of cargo were loaded and unloaded at the Hormozgan Province ports during the 11 months.

Abbasnejad pointed out that 72.1 million tons of non-oil and 31.6 million tons of oil and petroleum products were handled at the province’s ports.

The official further mentioned that during the 11 months, 47.7 million tons of cargo, including 38.2 million tons of non-oil products, were exported through the ports of Hormozgan.

"In the 11 months, 8.11 million tons of cargo were transited through the province ports. Cargo transit increased by 22.8 percent compared to the same period last year," he added.

Iran's Hormozgan Province has 118 ports. Of them, 44 ports are multi-purpose, 31 are fishing ports, 13 are commercial ports, 13 are entertainment and recreational ports, 11 are oil ports, three are passenger ports, and three are industrial ports.
