ASHGABAT, Turkmenistan, June 27. The Turkmenabat Chemical Plant named after S.A. Niyazov produced 115,850 tons of sulfuric acid in the first five months of 2025, Trend reports.
The plant also produced 11,297 tons of mineral fertilizers during the same period, including 5,227 tons of nitrogen and 6,070 tons of phosphorus-based fertilizers. The total value of products manufactured exceeded $33.86 million.
The plant’s chemical output is widely used in the country’s agricultural sector to support crop production and soil enrichment.
In a move to expand domestic fertilizer production, President of Turkmenistan Serdar Berdimuhamedov recently signed a decree approving the construction of a new facility at the plant. The future complex is expected to produce 350,000 tons of superphosphate and 100,000 tons of ammonium sulfate annually.
State concern Türkmenhimiýa has been authorized to sign a contract for the project with South Korea’s Daewoo Engineering & Construction Co., Ltd.
