TASHKENT, Uzbekistan, June 30. Uzbekistan is working to boost the transit of its products through the Pakistani port of Karachi by proposing dedicated infrastructure and digital logistics cooperation, Trend reports, citing the Chamber of Commerce and Industry (CCI) of Uzbekistan.
A delegation of Uzbek entrepreneurs visited Pakistan’s largest seaport following President Shavkat Mirziyoyev’s directive to diversify foreign trade routes amid growing geopolitical uncertainty. During the talks, the Uzbek side proposed the establishment of a dedicated warehouse in Karachi for storing goods from Uzbekistan. The measure is expected to streamline logistics, reduce costs, and accelerate delivery times to international markets.
In response, the Pakistani side expressed readiness to enhance imports of Uzbek textiles, fruits and vegetables, chemicals, and construction materials. Karachi port authorities also presented modern digital solutions in cargo tracking, electronic customs clearance, and containerized logistics.
The initiative builds on Uzbekistan’s broader strategy to reduce reliance on traditional transit corridors. On June 23, President Mirziyoyev called for intensified efforts to identify and secure alternative routes during a meeting with the country’s economic leadership.
