BAKU, Azerbaijan, October 24. Eni’s biofuels and fuel retail subsidiary, Enilive, reported a mixed performance in the third quarter of 2025, with higher biofuel throughputs and retail sales offset by weaker wholesale volumes, Trend reports.
Biofuel throughputs reached 0.32 million tons in Q3, up 14% year-on-year, driven by increased processing at the Gela and Chalmette biorefineries following maintenance in the same quarter of 2024. For the first nine months of 2025, bio throughputs totaled 0.88 million tons, down 7% compared to the same period in 2024 due to maintenance shutdowns earlier in the year.
Retail sales in Q3 rose slightly to 2.10 million tons, supported by higher gasoline and diesel sales in Italy. Over the nine-month period, retail volumes increased 2% to 5.85 million tons.
Wholesale sales, however, declined in the third quarter to 3.21 million tons, a 7% drop year-on-year, mainly due to reduced product availability in specific regions of Italy. For the nine-month period, wholesale sales fell 14% to 8.92 million tons.
