ASTANA, Kazakhstan, May 19. Kazakhstan’s Kostanay region plans to launch several new international air routes amid growing passenger traffic at Kostanay Airport, Deputy Akim of Kostanay Region Berik Tanzharikov said during a government meeting, Trend reports via Ukimet.

According to him, passenger traffic at the airport has shown steady growth in recent years.

“If in 2022 passenger traffic stood at around 295,000 people, by 2025 it had reached approximately 450,000 passengers,” Tanzharikov said.

According to him, the airport expects passenger traffic to increase to 500,000 people this year.

The frequency of flights to Astana and Almaty has already been increased, while the Kostanay–Shymkent route became year-round starting from May. Flights to Moscow and Egypt are also currently operating.

“Starting from June, we plan to launch the international Kostanay–Tashkent route. New tourist destinations such as Phu Quoc, Nha Trang, and Istanbul are also under consideration,” Tanzharikov added.
