Turkmenistan's President Gurbanguly Berdimuhamedov held a working meeting with the leadership of the regional administration, where the progress of agricultural work was considered, the Neutral Turkmenistan newspaper reported March 6.
In the second half of March, cotton sowing will start in Turkmenistan.
Therefore, a comprehensive approach is needed for solving all issues related to preparation for cotton sowing, Turkmen president said, having ordered to take all necessary measures for the organized sowing.
He also touched the issues of improving the fertility of lands, the effective use of mineral fertilizers and rational water use.
Cotton is an important export item in Turkmenistan and is a highly demanded raw material for tens of businesses in dynamically developing textile industry.
Total cultivated area in Turkmenistan exceeds 500,000 hectares.
