Special concrete of increased strength was developed to build facilities on the territory of the Tashkent City International Business Center (IBC) project, implemented in the capital of Uzbekistan, the directorate of the IBC told Trend.
According to the information, two mini-factories – concrete distributing units (CDUs) have already been set up in the territory of Tashkent City for this purpose. One of them has a capacity of 150 cubic meters per hour, the other – 80 cubic meters per hour. Several more CDUs will be put into operation soon. Work on implementation of this project is actively underway.
“Concrete of M200, M450 and M600 grades (the number indicates how many kilograms 1 square centimeter of frozen concrete can withstand) is manufactured at those mini-factories. M600 concrete is considered highly specialized and has the highest characteristics of strength, waterproofness, frost resistance, workability. Such concrete is used for construction of objects of strategic importance, such as bridges, dams, multi-storey buildings. It is used as the main material for construction of high-rise objects in Tashkent City,” the message read.
Mobile CDUs supply all lots of Tashkent City with concrete mix. Up to 2,500 cubic meters of concrete of different grades and classifications are used here every day.
“The recipe for concrete, used in the construction of facilities on the territory of IBC, was developed specifically for the largest construction project in Uzbekistan. For example, in addition to a number of chemical compounds, one more component is added - ordinary ash, which increases plasticity and strength of concrete,” the directorate of the IBC said.
The representative of the Tashkent City also said referring to the deputy director for construction of the Discovery Invest company, the general contractor of the directorate of the IBC, that gravel-sand mixture for production of concrete is extracted from the bed of the Chirchik river (also solving the additional task of cleaning and deepening the river-bed). The raw materials are then delivered to local processing plants, where crushed stone, sand, and wedge of various fractions are produced.
Cement is imported from several factories of Uzbekistan (Bekabad, Akhangaran, Jizzakh and Navoi cement plants), as well as from Tajikistan and Kazakhstan.
Near the CDUs there is also a laboratory where concrete samples are tested to confirm their grade. The concrete is checked before pouring, i.e. directly at the exit from the switchgear, and after filling samples of piles, columns or foundation of a particular structure are taken.
"The samples are taken on the eighth day, when concrete collects up to 75 percent of its strength, and by the twenty-eighth day, when concrete has already reached 95-98 percent of the estimated strength. Concrete can gain 120-130 percent of the expected strength in subsequent 10-15 years, if not experiencing aggressive impact of rain, snow and ultraviolet,” the message said.
The directorate of the IBC also said that for the first time in Uzbekistan the Tashkent City construction site uses formwork of Turkish production, assembled by German technology. It greatly facilitates and accelerates the process of "maturation" of concrete columns of various sizes and shapes.
“This auxiliary structure is easy to use and strong, it is of stable geometric dimensions, it can be used up to 400 times. For comparison: the usual wooden formwork is used no more than 10 times, because concrete corrodes the boards with time and then they need to be replaced,” the message read.
The IBC has also reminded that all work at the facilities is carried out continuously, since the completion of construction of some lots and the commissioning of facilities are completed as early as 2019.
Well-known companies from Germany, Japan, South Korea and the UK are engaged in the implementation of a large-scale urban development project Tashkent City in the capital of Uzbekistan, and the project is under the personal control of the head of state.
The project is implemented exclusively at the expense of financial injections of domestic and foreign investors, as stipulated in the relevant resolution of the Cabinet of Ministers dated July 28, 2017.
The urban planning documentation, architectural concept and engineering design are also developed at the expense of own funds of foreign and local investors, according to the same legal act.
The whole project territory is divided into eight separate land plots – tender lots, each of which has different stages of completion of work until the end of 2021 and individual investors.
The Tashkent City IBC will include a 200-meters-high skyscraper (Japanese Nihon Sekkei, French Bureau Veritas and DP Architects of Singapore), which will have A+ class business centers and a five-star Ritz Carlton hotel; a European boulevard with elements of national architecture (Turkish Uzguven Mimarlik and Muhendis); the five-star twenty-story Hilton hotel and other facilities.
