In January-September 2018, the Uzbek Metallurgical Plant (Uzmetkombinat) produced consumer goods worth 44 billion soums, which exceeds forecast figures (33.5 billion soums) by 31.5 percent, the Uzbek company told Trend.
The Uzmetkombinat also noted that the volume of production in the first nine months of 2018 exceeded the result of the same period last year (29.1 billion soums) by 51.2 percent.
The total production of marketable products in the 3Q2018 amounted to 2.96 trillion soums, which also exceeds the forecast (2.75 trillion soums) by 7.6 percent and the figure for the same period of 2017 (1.58 trillion soums) by 74.05 percent.
Uzmetkombinat noted that the company also fulfills the forecast for creation of new jobs. According to the Program for creation of new jobs and providing employment for the population in 2018, the plant has set a forecast task for creating of 142 jobs. As of Oct. 1, 2018, 131 workplaces were actually created, including 66 new jobs under the “development of the industry” program, 63 – under various investment programs, and 2 – for home-based labor.
“In the 1H2018, Uzmetkombinat carried out additional activities worth 111 million soums within the framework of the State Program for implementation of the Action Strategy in five priority areas of development of Uzbekistan in 2017-2021,” the company said.
Earlier, the founder and co-owner of USM Holdings, well-known Russian businessman of Uzbek origin Alisher Usmanov talked about his plans to invest in projects in Uzbekistan in an interview with the TV channel Russia 1.
Speaking about business projects in Uzbekistan, Usmanov, first of all, noted the Uzbek metallurgical complex.
“I will help only in business. The companies I own, where I am a shareholder, will definitely help cooperation in every way. That's how we do it with the Uzbek metallurgical complex. For us, this is a sales market, and for the complex – excellent quality of raw materials, which gives it the opportunity to produce a competitive metal for supply for the purpose of subsequent use,” he said.
Usmanov said the Metalloinvest Management Company LLC (Russia’s biggest iron producer) has already been supplying its products to the Uzbek metallurgical complex for about two or three years.
“We supply a serious volume, up to $100 million a year. We supply hot-briquetted iron,” Usmanov said.
