Uzbekistan’s Deputy Prime Minister Elyor Ganiev held a meeting with Malaysian Minister of International Trade and Industry Darell Leiking in Kuala Lumpur, Trend reports with reference to Uzbekistan’s Foreign Ministry.
In addition, a round table was also held with the participation of more than 20 Malaysian companies operating in petrochemical, electrical, energy, pharmaceutical and food industries, as well as in the field of banking, financial and ICT services.
During the events, the Malaysian side was provided with extensive information on large-scale economic reforms carried out under the leadership of Uzbekistan’s President Shavkat Mirziyoyev, aimed at liberalizing the monetary policy, creating favorable conditions for investment activities, including in free economic zones, privatization of state enterprises, as well as possible areas of bilateral cooperation.
The Minister of International Trade and Industry of Malaysia emphasized that his country sees Uzbekistan as a key partner in Central Asia. Confirming the existence of a huge unrealized potential for the development of cooperation, Leiking noted the need to intensify trade relations and investment interaction in sectors of the economy of mutual interest.
Following the talks, a number of agreements were reached, including the organization of a visit to Uzbekistan by a delegation of representatives of the Malaysian business circles led by the Minister of International Trade and Industry, as well as the consideration of the possibility of implementing joint investment projects.
