Uzbekistan plans to acquire a Russian station for receiving signals from remote sensing of the Earth, as was stated by Russian Ambassador to Uzbekistan Vladimir Tyurdenev, Trend reports citing Uzbek media.
According to him, the proposal of Glavcosmos (a subsidiary of Russian Roscosmos State Space Corporation) is currently being studied in Uzbekistan.
"Contacts are ongoing in the field of joint research in space sphere. The text of an intergovernmental agreement on cooperation in the field of research and use of outer space for peaceful purposes has been verified.At present, the state-owned procedures for the approval of statutory documents have been completed," - the diplomat noted.
Data from satellites can be used in compiling and updating geographical, thematic and topographic maps, to study degrees of pollution, environmental degradation, determine maturity of wheat, establish degree of soil salinity and so on.
The system will be able to receive data from "Resource-P", "Canopus-V" and "Canopus-V-IR" satellites.
