The US Financial Corporation for International Development is ready to help Uzbekistan with the introduction of advanced American technologies in Uzbekistan, Trend reports with the reference to Uzbek Ministry of Foreign Affairs.
Representatives of the embassies of Uzbekistan, Kazakhstan, Kyrgyzstan, Tajikistan, Afghanistan, the US - Uzbek Chamber of Commerce, as well as Caterpillar Inc., Chevron, AGCO Corporation, ExxonMobil, General Motors and other companies met with Adam Boiler, Executive Director of the US International Financial Development Corporation (IFC) of the US, the report said.
The US Financial Corporation for International Development was established in October 2019 on the basis of the Foreign Private Investment Corporation, which also combines the functions of the US Agency for International Development with a budget of over $60 billion.
Head of IFCD highly appreciated the attention of the Government of Uzbekistan to improvement of business environment, optimization of state management, process of introduction of market mechanisms into the country's economy. As it was stressed, the corporation has identified Central Asia as a priority region for investment.
Adam Boiler expressed readiness to implement "development programs" in the region through the allocation of financial resources and technical assistance to the private sector and government for the implementation of investment projects focused primarily on the introduction of advanced US technologies and management of priority sectors, which contribute to job creation, rural development, providing the population with access to infrastructure, education, healthcare and housing, as well as the development of alternative energy.
Reportedly, the corporation is ready to consider the opening a regional office in Central Asia.
During the talks, the issues of implementing infrastructure projects on principles of public-private partnership in Uzbekistan jointly with major US companies with the financial support of the corporation, as well as attracting grant funds aimed at introducing the American experience in developing high-quality feasibility studies of projects in the country have been discussed step by step.
Joint initiative group has been set up, following the meeting, to further discuss the implementation of reached agreements.
