Biodegradable bag manufacturing factory has been launched in Gori town of Shida Kartli region in Georgia, Trend reports referring to Georgian media.
As reported, the factory is owned by company Eco Georgia company.
The company Eco Georgia is a participant of the state program Produce in Georgia. The company received a land plot and a building with a total area of 3,355 sq.m. in Gori for one lari (31 cents). According to the representative of the factory, this is the only factory in Georgia where not only biodegradable bags, but also the raw materials necessary for their manufacturing are produced.
State Representative of Shida Kartli region Giorgi Khojevanishvili inspected the enterprise and got acquainted with the production process.
The investment made in the enterprise amounted to about 3 million lari ($943,385). Currently, 25 people are employed, but more than 100 jobs are planned to be created in the future.
The Produce in Georgia program was set up in the summer of 2014 to stimulate local production and offers two main incentives: financial resources and infrastructure (land, buildings, etc.). In April 2017, the agency of the same name was created, which combined all state programs aimed at promoting the business sector and economic development of the country.
