ASTANA, Kazakhstan, July 7. The Deputy Prime Minister and Minister of Foreign Affairs of the Republic of Kazakhstan, Murat Nurtleu, who arrived in Rio de Janeiro to attend the BRICS Summit of Heads of State and Partners, held a meeting with the Minister of Foreign Affairs of Brazil, Mauro Vieira, Trend reports via the Ministry of Foreign Affairs of Kazakhstan.
During the meeting, Murat Nurtleu emphasized that, by the end of the first quarter of 2025, trade turnover between the two countries had increased by 88 percent, reaching $104.2 million.
The parties discussed current issues of bilateral cooperation in the political, trade-economic, investment, energy, and cultural-humanitarian spheres and outlined promising areas for cooperation within the framework of international organizations.
Nurteleu highlighted that Kazakhstan considers Brazil one of its key partners and a reliable friend in Latin America.
"This year marks the 32nd anniversary of the establishment of diplomatic relations between our countries. These ties are characterized by a stable political dialogue, expansion of economic relations, and strengthening of contacts on the international stage," he noted.
A special emphasis was placed on strengthening trade and economic relations. Despite the geographical distance, Brazil remains Kazakhstan's largest trading partner in South America.
The ministers confirmed mutual interest in further expanding joint work in key sectors.
"We are ready to expand cooperation in areas such as agriculture, manufacturing, transport, and logistics. It is important to find specific niches for mutually beneficial partnerships," said Vieira.
Kazakhstan has put forth a proposition for synergistic
collaboration in high-potential domains such as extractive
metallurgy, nuclear power generation, aerospace engineering,
agrochemical manufacturing, and additional sectors.
Simultaneously, both ministers articulated a keen interest in the
synergistic exchange of experiential knowledge and cutting-edge
technologies within the domains of renewable energy, digital
transformation, and advanced technological innovations.
In the discourse surrounding the global agenda, the alignment of
strategic methodologies between Astana and Brasília on various
contemporary geopolitical challenges was highlighted, alongside the
consistent reciprocal endorsement within multilateral frameworks,
notably the United Nations.
Subsequent to the conclave, the foreign ministers articulated their
preparedness to enhance discourse and amplify collaborative efforts
within the BRICS framework and additional global arenas.
In the fiscal year 2024, the bilateral trade volume between the
Republic of Kazakhstan and the Federative Republic of Brazil
surpassed the $257 million threshold.
