Amangeldy Gas LLP, a subsidiary of KazTransGas JSC -KTG, plans to produce more than 321 million cubic meters of gas and over 20,000 tons of gas condensate by late 2013, the general director of KTG Serik Sultangali said in an interview to the state mass media on the tenth anniversary of Amangeldy Gas LLP.
"Amangeldy Gas LLP plans to produce 321 million 200 cubic meters of gas and 20,500 tons of gas condensate," Serik Sultangali said.
Amangeldy Gas LLP is the only organisation engaged in the exploration, production and development of hydrocarbon fields at the Zhambyl oblast (region) of Kazakhstan.
Sultangali reminded that the company's own production at Amangeldy allowed Kazakhstan to significantly reduce its imports from Uzbekistan.
Gas supplies from Uzbekistan were unstable, and at the first temperature dipping below zero, Uzbekistan sharply restricted the gas flow to Kazakhstan. This situation delayed the development of industry in the region and created a number of problems in heating supplies to social facilities.
In October 2003 with the commissioning of five production wells, a gas pipeline, central gas processing facilities and infrastructure facilities, the first launch complex was completed and the Amangeldy field was put into pilot production. Cheap gas supply to the population of Zhambyl region began.
In 2003, when Amangeldy Gas began production, it produced 20 million cubic meters of natural gas and nearly 3000 tons of condensate. For comparison, 2 470,667 cubic meters of gas and 200 294.6 tons of gas condensate was extracted as of early 2012.
According to the company, the total financing of the project amounted to more than $140 million. State budget funds were attracted to start the project. However, further development of Amangeldy field was self-funded by KazTransGas JSC.
"This means gas production at the Amangeldy field commissioned on October 23, 2003, lowered the gas shortage in southern Kazakhstan that annually consumes about 1.5 billion cubic meters," Sultangali said.
According to him, in the case of full funding of the work for commissioning new fields of the Amangeldy group and carrying out maintenance on reservoir pressure and the introduction of new production wells, annual gas production by 2017 will be about 400-500 million cubic meters of gas.
