SOCAR's Georgian Black Sea Oil Terminal Kulevi first began the technical butane transshipment operations, the terminal said.
So far, the complex of the terminal receiving and shipping liquefied petroleum gas (LPG), commissioned in 2012, transshipped only two types of LPG-production: propylene and butylene-butadiene fraction.
"The terminal started transshipping a new type of LPG-products - technical butane," a statement said. "The first batch was shipped to the Power S vessel without detriment to the quality and time."
Such operations will allow the terminal to become a more important player on the global oil market.
All operations are controlled by the local station with automatic control system SCADA.
The terminal in Georgia's Kulevi was commissioned in May 2008. The total capacity of the terminal is 10 million metric tons of bulk-oil cargo per year. The total capacity of the terminal's tank farm is 320,000 cubic meters with the possibility of reaching 380,000 cubic meters.
