Uzbekistan is implementing an investment project for the introduction of highly efficient cogeneration gas turbine units with a capacity of 17 MW at the Fergana combined heat and power plant (CHPP), the total cost of which amounts to $83.6 million, Trend reports citing Ministry of Energy of Uzbekistan.
Part of the cost in the amount of $49.5 million as a grant is provided by the government of Japan, and the remaining $34.1 million is the own funds of Fergana CHPP.
The new installations are planned to be put into operation by the end of this year, which will provide the population of the Fergana Valley with additional electricity and heat in winter.
By implementing the project, the heat supply of the Kirguli massif and the Qodiriy massif of the city of Fergana will become more stable, and the level of electricity deficit in the city will decrease. At the same time, this will increase the potential for saving fuel and energy resources.
The main equipment of the new device is supplied on the basis of a Japanese grant. The rest of the components, auxiliary units and devices are the products of domestic manufacturers based on the localization program, which leads to significant savings in foreign exchange.

Fergana CHP Joint Stock Company was established over 60 years ago. At the moment, its production capacity amounts to 305 MWh of electricity. Also, the center supplies heat to important sectors of the economy and consumers.
