BAKU, Azerbaijan, January 17. The Baku-Tbilisi-Ceyhan oil pipeline handled 76 percent of Azerbaijan's oil transit, delivering 29.47 million tons of oil per year.

Data obtained by Trend from the Azerbaijan State Statistical Committee reveals that the volume of oil transportation amounted to 38.7 million tons in 2024.

The majority of the oil transported through BTC, 24.1 million tons, or 82 percent, originated from Azerbaijani fields.

The remaining 18 percent, equivalent to 5.29 million tons, was sourced from Turkmenistan and Kazakhstan.

The BTC pipeline primarily transports crude oil from the Azeri-Chirag-Guneshli (ACG) oil fields and condensate from the Shah Deniz field in Azerbaijan. Additionally, the pipeline carries crude oil and condensate from Kazakhstan and Turkmenistan, as well as volumes produced by the State Oil Company of Azerbaijan Republic (SOCAR) in Azerbaijan.

Shareholders in the BTC Co. include major global energy firms: bp (30.1 percent), SOCAR (25.0 percent), MOL (8.9 percent), Equinor (8.7 percent), TPAO (6.5 percent), Eni (5.0 percent), TotalEnergies (5.0 percent), ITOCHU (3.4 percent), INPEX (2.5 percent), ExxonMobil (2.5 percent), and ONGC Videsh (2.4 percent).
