The Maskan Bank of Iran will allocate 3.6 quadrillion rials (about $85.7 billion) worth of loans from the bank's resources for the construction of housing in the current Iranian year (from March 21, 2021, through March 20, 2022), Managing Director of the bank Mahmoud Shayan told IRIB, Trend reports.

According to him, these loans will be used on the construction of 1.2 million housings.

Shayan added that 800,000 housing will be built in cities and 400,000 in villages.

The director praised the Central Bank of Iran's appointment of executive banks to provide the loans.

"It is hoped that there will be great progress in the housing sector at the expense of these loans," he said.

Reportedly, the Maskan Bank operates in Iran as a bank specializing in housing.

A number of measures are being taken in Iran to eliminate the housing shortage. Examples include the Mehr National Housing Plan – the imposition of taxes on vacant housings.
