BAKU, Azerbaijan, April 29. The volume of loans issued in the capital and regions of Azerbaijan increased by 4 billion manat ($2.3 billion), or 20.28 percent, as of March 31, 2024, compared to the same period in 2023, amounting to 24.1 billion manat ($14.1 billion), Trend reports.
According to the Central Bank of Azerbaijan (CBA), loans worth 18.5 billion manat ($10.8 billion) were issued in Baku in the mentioned period, which is 3.33 times higher than the total volume of loans issued in all regions of the country.
The loans in the national currency in Baku amounted to 14 billion manat ($8.2 billion) (75.76 percent of the total volume of lending in Baku).
The average annual interest rate in the country amounted to 12.63 percent; in Baku, it was 11.18 percent.

To note, the volume of loans issued in the capital and regions of Azerbaijan as of December 31, 2023, increased by 3.5 billion manat ($2 billion), or 18.31 percent, compared to the same period in 2022, amounting to 23.1 billion manat ($13.5 billion).
