BAKU, Azerbaijan, September 14. Azerbaijan totally produced 1,376 tons of gold from January through August 2024, representing a 7.3 percent increase compared to the same period in 2023.
Data obtained by Trend from the State Statistics Committee shows that silver production decreased from 2,717 tons to 2,062 tons (a comparison between the first eight months of 2023 and the same period in 2024).
A significant drop was also recorded in copper concentrate production, which fell from 2,000 tons recorded in the first eight months of last year to just 112 tons during the same period in 2024.
Two companies, Anglo Asian Mining (AAM) and AzerGold CJSC, are responsible for the extraction of precious metals in Azerbaijan.
