BAKU, Azerbaijan, August 5. Azerbaijan welcomed 78,140 tourists from Russia in July 2024, an eight percent increase compared to the same month in 2023 (72,432 visitors), Trend reports.
Data from the State Tourism Agency of Azerbaijan shows that from January through July this year, Azerbaijan saw 438 078 tourists from Russia, a 17 percent increase compared to the same period in 2023 (375,158 visitors).
Overall, in the reporting period, Azerbaijan hosted 1.5 million foreign visitors, a 31 percent rise compared to the same period in 2023 (1.14 million).
In 2023, Azerbaijan received more than two million foreign visitors, an increase of over 30.2 percent compared to 2022 (1.6 million), including 625,106 people from Russia, which is 39.9 percent higher than in 2022 (446,831 people).
From 2017 through 2023, Azerbaijan was visited by over 4.2 million Russian citizens (2017: 853,082, 2018: 878,391, 2019: 932,198, 2020: 225,214, 2021: 257,959, 2022: 446,831, and 2023: 625,106).
