State Agency of Azerbaijan Automobile Roads continues comprehensive measures for the reconstruction of roads, Head of the agency’s press service Anar Najafli told Trend.
Head of the press service said that the reconstruction work is mainly carried out on the streets and roads, which for a long time were operated without major repairs.
In 2019, about 300 million manat ($176.4 million) from the Trust Fund for Roads were invested in the repair and construction of roads, Najafli said.
At present, 10 pedestrian crossings, both underground and ground, are being built on the territory of Azerbaijan, head of the press service added.
In order to ensure traffic safety on roads and comfortable movement of citizens on the roads, the state agency is implementing comprehensive measures, including the construction of ground and underground pedestrian crossings.
As part of these measures, seven ground and underground pedestrian crossings on the city and suburban roads, as well as highways, were built and commissioned in 2018-2019.
In the near future, it is planned to build six more new crossings.
