BAKU, Azerbaijan, April 4. Kazakh Minister of Agriculture Yerbol Karashukeyev shared plans to impose restrictions on the export of flour and grain, Trend reports citing the Ministry.
“The issue of imposing restrictions on the export of grain and flour is being worked out. Ministry is working on it now and prices will be volumetric, they will not interfere with the export of both flour and grain,” minister said.
“The Russian Federation has introduced a temporary ban on the export of wheat and grain exports. We know this situation, we keep it under control. Our grain balance is positive today and it will be positive. We have enough reserves for consumption for the local market and they will be enough for export, at the level of average annual volumes,” Karashukeyev said on the sidelines of Kazakh Majilis (parliament) after Parliament’s Government Hour.
According to him, exporters do not want to sell grain to the local market and wait for prices to rise.
“We know that the price will rise in the world. We can see that this is all growing day by day if we take stock prices. There is some inconsistency between flour processors and grain producers. An appropriate restriction will be introduced for export and they will have to send a certain part to the local market,” the minister noted.
He assured that the Food Contract Corporation (FCC National Company) also had stocks of flour in case of emergency.
“We are ready if there is a deficit and this is not possible thanks to a positive balance. Grain producers are just waiting for a price increase and do not want to sell to flour mills and a temporary imbalance is associated with this. This is not due to the fact that there is no wheat or grain. Everything will be all right,” the minister concluded.
