Kazakhstan increases grain transportation by rail

ASTANA, Kazakhstan, September 11. Some 7.4 million tons of grain were transported through the Kazakhstan Railways network for 8 months of this year, which is 29 percent more than last year, Trend reports.

Data of Kazakhstan Railways shows that grain exports increased by 40 percent and amounted to 6.3 million tons. Transportation of ground products increased by 16.5 percent, to 1.9 million tons. 1.5 million tons were shipped for export, an increase of 30.2 percent.

The main markets for Kazakh grain and grinding products are traditionally the countries of Central Asia, Afghanistan, Iran, Russia and China.

The transportation of goods through the Kazakhstan Railways network is carried out within the framework of the main plan, formed for the coming month at the request of shippers, taking into account the capacity of the railway infrastructure.

The volume of grain transportation on the Kazakhstan Railways network increased by 30 percent, to 5.8 million tons from January through June 2023. Grain exports increased by 35 percent, to 4.7 million tons.
