Kyrgyzneftegaz notes decrease in gas production

BISHKEK, Kyrgyzstan, April 17. Kyrgyzneftegaz, the leading oil and gas company in Kyrgyzstan, produced 27 million cubic meters of gas in 2023, Trend reports.

According to the company, this figure decreased by 6.9 percent compared to 29 million cubic meters in 2022 but increased by 22.7 percent compared to 22 million cubic meters in 2021.

Meanwhile, the company also extracted 184,000 tons of oil in 2023, which is an increase of 3.3 percent compared to 178,000 tons in 2022.

Currently, Kyrgyzneftegaz operates 14 active oil and gas fields, with exploration activities underway at three of them. The company is also modernizing its refinery under the Kyrgyz Petroleum Company to produce products compliant with EU standards. The modernization is scheduled to be completed by 2026.

According to the State Statistical Committee of Kyrgyzstan, 5.3 million cubic meters of natural gas were produced in Kyrgyzstan from January through February 2024, which is 29.3 percent less than 7.5 million cubic meters in the corresponding month of 2023.
